An early look at the Hotel of Tomorrow

The article that I choose, talks about the Hotels Of Tommorow (HOT) and explains the different amenities how hoteliers could have to do in order to satisfy custumers needs with high-tech amenities, new softwares (for example computer to do check in and outdirectly by choosing the room, paying ...)

As we can see on this picture, the hotel room of the future could look like that. But it can be dangerous for the hotel industry to be enroled in the spirale of getting always more and more high tech amenities because for most people the essence of hotel industry is the human contact !!!

Booking travel online using a single-page user interface

Please find the text HERE !

The text talks about a new interface created called Ajax which allows a different way of using an Internet page.
Instead of using many pages for one reservation or for any other applications this interface will allow you to use only one page where all information will be compiled and I think that all the companies using reservation system (hotels, airline companies, restaurant...) will be very interested in be able to use Ajax because of the easier way it represents which will be a positive point for all their customers.
"Single-page user interfaces allow users to
work in an intuitive, non-linear way."

AOL enhances search, limits ads

This text (see the text here !!) explains the new concept of AOL concerning a new wide web-browser which allows when you search something on the net to have a general view of what you can find concerning the subject.

But the big difference with any other web-browsers is that you have directly a panel of video, images, local results, and other specific queries without the need to search them individually.

Of course this is one of the wonderfull positive point that AOL proposes.

The Google company create also a kind of similar searh engine (maybe they were the first...).

This article shows that we are in a world which is changing, growing very fast and that for professional, it's really hard to adapt their company to the demand and the fluctuation of the market.
That's why the authors try to highlight the six trends in technology related to travel market for 2006.
I think that the idea of writing an article to help poeple to get more ideas is a very good point, but it can be also a problem because they won't have a subjective view of the situation.

Concerning these 6 trends my opinion is:
  • Electronic snacking:
This is real that poeple are much more attracted by little electronic devices because of their accessibility concerning price and the fact that it's possible to use everywhere.
  • Web...
More and more people are using the web to do everyday's actions like buying, get informations, compare prices, working ...and that's a very important trend to get into.
  • Data treatments:
I think that a Data Base can be also a trap when it's not well used ... and that what's happend the main time
  • Different distribution channels:
Diversification is for me one of the most important way to developp our business, because market, guests minds, suppliers. So to be able to get many channels of distribution allows much more flexibility.
  • Rich Media:
  • Interactive map on web site:
With an interactive map on their web site, the hotels allow a better situation in the mind of the visitor, and make their surf more pleasant.
And that's funny when you see that for example a big hotel group like STARWOOD doesn't have that system ...
